All things creative have fascinated me since childhood, when I was always designing with a pencil or crayon. Once an art instructor, I shared the joy of self-expression with homeless youth that suffered severe emotional challenges, until I earned an MA in Communication Arts from the University of Michigan, and moved to Chicago to begin a career in film and broadcast. At first, I was Assistant to the Broadcast Director at ad agency Foote, Cone & Belding, and then I was a Commercial Producer for international client Procter & Gamble at Euro RSCG-Tatham, until I became an independent contractor, writing and producing longer–format film and broadcast, as well as commercials—including an award-winning ad campaign for the State of illinois—and traveling for severfal projects in LA and NYC. I've crewed on three feature films: for Paramount, Columbia Pictures and Warner Bros. After creating work that sells in Chicago and other large markets, I returned to my home state of Ohio, where I continued to do freelance work for the Universityof Michigan Medical Center and a number of regional agencies until I became Creative Director for NBC affiliate WNWO—writing, producing and directing broadcast commerials for numerous regional clients.
I’ve gradually realized my dominant passion is writing as an art form. Especially since I was single and supporting myself when I struggled to establish my career, I’ve developed a deep empathy for women working on their own. I love writing fiction about women who fight to survive and hopefully triumph in the film industry that's largely controlled by men. I also write non-fiction, since I’ve discovered it can also be an effective means to communicate inspiration based on truth—and ideally advocate social justice. My purpose in championing women fits me like a tapered glove. I can’t think of anything more meaningful to me. Besides, delving deeply into the subject of women's rights has helped me resolve my own issues after living virtually in survival mode for years. Throughout this process, I've learned countless women with diverse backgrounds suffer the trauma resulting from neglect and often assault. I believe that when we reach out with compassion, we can replace this grim reality with more freedom and peace for all. Now I’m wiriting exclusively, living with my husband Lee and our beagle Daisy in Cincinnati, Ohio.
During my experience as a copywriter and writer/producer of short films and commercials, I’ve developed a strong foundation in writing to appeal to particular audiences. Currently, I'm seeking representation for my new novel Radiant Exposure, about a filmmaker who risks everything she has to fight for justice on behalf of victims of violence, when her own ife is trheatened. I wrote this story to entertain, so my theme will be widely relatable and reach more readers. I’ve also written sections of a possible sequel. Recently, I’ve self-published a non-fiction book Women Who Walk the Talk to encourage women’s authentic self-expression, and a children’s book Randy Find His Way Home—both available on Amazon. Not yet published, I've applied my brand of humor in writing a non-fiction book about women’s dilemma relative to the men in our lives. A former blog of mine Subtext of Sexuality is on Wordpress. I enjoy writing poetry especially relevant to women. Immersed in women’s advancement, I 've volunteered in supporting women and I'm experienced in public speaking. if you have an interest in leaning more, I'm available to share any information you may require to consider representing me as my future literary agent.
